subject: Why East Anglia Jobs Prospects Are Looking Up [print this page] Everywhere we go, every news item we read, the story runs the same: the recovery is on its way. We've turned the corner and the good times are here again. However many people are not seeing this on the ground, especially in rural areas. As such the landscape for East Anglia jobs is incredibly difficult to assess. While one area may be thriving another may still be in the doll drums. The result - ongoing fear and doubt regarding the true strength of the economic recovery.
A recent report highlighted the uneven spread of the effects of this recession. Those areas reliant on manufacturing had suffered to a disproportionately high degree. Others, meanwhile, are thriving.
How can they do so well? The secret is diversity. Areas with a wide spread of local industry are more likely to survive in the current economic climate than those reliant on any single sector. Equally, a region with good levels of education has better human resources to draw on.
The result has been a divergence in the employment prospects across the region. The East Anglia jobs scene is best in towns such as Colchester and London which lie well within the commuter belt offer a substantial number of opportunities.
In these areas employment agencies are actively looking to add to its roster of workers in preparation for an anticipated pick up in employment. Businesses across the region have been sheltering from the economic storm, but are now ready to come out of their shells. As such we can expect to see a significant rise in the number of available East Anglia jobs over the next 12 months.
For businesses now is the perfect time to recruit. The official figures do not do justice to the extent of the employment problem. It fails to take into account those in under-employment - part time jobs or taking the opportunity to study. If they did then the true figure could be as high as 25 per cent of the eligible work force in some areas. That means there is a large reservoir of highly skilled and talented workers to choose from. Those firms that make their move earlier will therefore be best placed to take their pick from the most talented individuals.
The market for East Anglia jobs is still volatile, but there is hope for the future. Increasingly, throughout the industrial landscape there is a growing recognition that the worst is behind us and good times are here again.
