Now fill out the application form through online, include the lyrics and personal information.

At last Pay a $50 application fee for the online registration, which is cheaper than registering through the fax or mail, which costs about $65.

Before submitting, try to review the application and correct the missing information. The Intellectual Property Office(IPO) will contact you within three business days for the further steps.

If the application is complete without further problems , then the IPO will send a Certificate of Registration with a registration number in three business days. When you submit a song lyrics, the recorded version of the song is tested, it is considered as a literary work and not a musical work.

As the general application, you will receive the certificate from the Copyright Board of Canada within a week or two.
