UGG Boots
Ugg Boots or Ugg-ly Boots? We discuss and bring you the facts, and then you can decide for yourself. Personally, I don't understand this ridiculous UGG boot trend at the moment. I mean, Pamela Anderson wore UGG boots y-e-a-r-s ago, ladies. Is this a case of what's old is new again? I don't know. Bu there in L.A., UGG boots are once again all the rage.
Ugg boots (sometimes called uggs or even ugglys) are actually UNISEX sheepskin boots. UGG boots are not only for women. Did you know that? Traditional UGG boots are hand made of twin-faced sheepskin with fleece on the inside and with a tanned outer surface, often with a synthetic sole. Other manufactures offer these types of boots made out of the same material. They just use different names such as "Australian sheepskin boots".
At the Westside Pavillion here in L.A. there is a small cart type of shop that sells these UGG boots or Australian sheepskin boots and they are doing a brisk business. Fortunately, the owner is not one of those pushy salespeople trying to talk to you and steer you in a product which you don't want. In essence, the shopkeeper that sells these UGG boots and Australian sheepskin boots is rather pleasant, nice, and dignified.
Ugg boots are believed to have been first made in New Zealand or Australia, although the exact date is uncertain.Much debate in fashion circles continues. There has also been a dispute between manufacturers of ugg boots, as to whether "ugg" is a generic term and thus ineligible for trademark protection, especially in the region of origin. Deckers Outdoor Corporation holds the UGG trademark in more than 100 countries worldwide. Notable exceptions are Australia and New Zealand where the term is considered generic. But in my option, the term UGG boots is rather generic these days.
But UGG boots, uggs, or ugglies, they have returned. What shall be the next fashion trend? We shall see.
