1. Rest up. The night before you plan to quit smoking, get plenty of sleep, and you will also need to cut back on many agitating factors in the next 5 days.

2. Get up early. Eat a good breakfast like eggs, grains, and fruits. After you eat take a nice walk. Remember drink lot's of water, it will help you get rid of the nicotine in your body.

3. Walk often. After each meal(preferably fruits, and vegetables), take a five minute stroll and practice deep breathing. Continue to tell yourself you don't want to smoke.

4. Keep your mouth occupied. Use sugarless gum, or any gum. Adopt new good habits to stop smoking. Nibble in fruits or veggies if you feel the same urge to stuff your face. Don't drink too many acids.

5. Avoid other smokers, and definately avoid alchol in this 5 day period. Also try avoiding over eating.

6. Keep your hands and mind busy. The irritable feeling that you experiance in the first few days will pass as your body rids itself of the bad nicotine. When you are feeling shaky and ready to break down stay busy and the urge will pass. Think about how good you will feel when you stop smoking.
