subject: Spring Is Time For Trimming And Yard Care [print this page] We made it through winter, at times it seems like it will never end, but eventually it always does and then spring is here! I love spring but it does bring with it a plethora of projects to ready our yards for summer.
One of the first items on the lists is tree trimming before the trees begin to leaf. A professional can trim your trees for maximum beauty, fruit production and light to the center of the tree. You can take a class at your local gardening center and try it yourself if you are brave, just remember, men and chain saws make for very small trees and bushes. I have learned that the hard way. My husband and other men I know, once given a chain saw just don't quite know when to stop and end up cutting down most things in the back yard. Just keep that in mind.
Law irrigation systems or sprinklers systems have to be maintained and repaired each spring. Debris get the lines all clogged up, especially if you have irrigation water with sticks, grass, rocks, dirt and a host of other impurities in it. The lines need to be blown out and new filters installed. If you don't have an irrigation systems or sprinklers, spring is a good time to get this project done.
Landscaping is my favorite thing to do in April. Whether you use a profession landscaper or are a do-it-yourselfer, spring is the time to get going on projects. I have been plotting and planning all winter the plants, water features and vegetables I want in the yard. I love a natural looking garden with rocks, water, flowers and trees that look like they just sprang from the ground. Organized chaos with a profusion of color.
All the little need-to-be-done jobs come up in spring, aerating the lawn, raking the dead grass, amending the soil, turning the garden and planting for a variety of vegetables to grace the summer table.
Spring a time of work and toil, but it is also wonderful time of renewal and preparation for the summer ahead. Get it all done early so you can enjoy the warm and wonderful summer nights.
