subject: Making Concert Going A Priority [print this page] In my youth I attended many fun and exiting music concerts. I loved attending concerts whenever I had the chance. I would save up my paychecks and go to whatever big name was coming to town. Here are a few highlights from my concert going days.
My first actual concert was The Indigo Girls. I went with my sister and her friends when I was about twelve years old. It was awesome. Those women sure know how to rock it. I remember feeling so grown up and part of something really amazing. Since this was my first concert I was blown away by the lighting, the intensity of the sound, and the incredible atmosphere of the concert going crowd.
My next big event was at the Dave Matthews Band concert when I was in junior high. I went with a friend of mine and remember thinking how weird it was that so many people were able to get passed security with so much marijuana. I think we were the only ones not high that night. The concert was great and Dave put on quite a show.
I went to see the Counting Crows later in high school. I've always been a fan of those guys and they did not disappoint with a great show. It was the best set I've ever seen at a concert. The Crows performed in front of a black tapestry with large chandeliers next to the piano. It was stunning.
When I was in college I went down to southern California to attend the Coachella music festival. This venue featured over a hundred bands in a 3 day music festival. Although it was over 100 degrees in the desert, I've never had so much fun in all my life. I heard Kraftwerk, The Black Keys, Radiohead, and The Pixies, among many others.
This year I would like to go see a good show. There are some great events booked in big cities like Tampa and Los Angeles. I'll try to make my yearly concert pilgrimage. The older I get the harder it is to get away from my busy schedule but I think taking in good live performances should always be a priority in every one's life. There's no better way to take in your favorite band than at a live concert with speakers booming and the crowd hopping.
