Making your Own Administration Panel (Control Panel)

Control Panel is already built in Microsoft Windows. The names and locations of all the items in the Control Panel are already fixed. If you wish to set-up your own Control Panel, you are at the right place. It will help finding out the items that you frequently require.

What is Microsoft Mangement Console (MMC)?

We will use Microsoft Management Console (MMC) for this process. Before turning to the actual steps, let us know what exactly is MMC.

MMC is a component in Microsoft Windows operating system that enables administer, configure and monitor the system.

The management console can host one or more modules which are Component Object Model components called snap-ins. Most of Microsoft's administration tools included with both Windows itself, and Windows Server System products are implemented as MMC "snap-ins". Third parties can also implement their own snap-ins using the MMC application programming interfaces published at MSDN.

Creating your own Control Panel:

Do the following steps to create a new Control Panel/ Administration Panel for easy access to common tools on your computer:

1.Click Start button on the Taskbar.

2.Type MMC.EXE in the Run orSearch Box.

3.Microsoft Management Console will launch.

4.Click File | Add or Remove Snap-In.

5. To add an item, select it, and click Add button.

6.Choose the option Local Computer, and click Finish button.

7. After your finish adding the required items, click File | Save As.

8.Select a location, enter the name to the file. And, then click Save button.
