Why Building Muscle Happens in the Kitchen

It's not secret that every man wants to get just a little bit bigger and put on a little more muscle. Eating correctly is the most essential part of a muscle building routine, and even more essential than what you do in the gym. Eating incorrectly can utterly destroy your routine.

Everyone knows protein is important in building muscle, but even so many people still don't get enough of it. Consuming 1 gram of protein for each pound of body weight is a good start. The body will actually start eating itself, called catabolic, if you don't consume enough protein. Not a good scenario.

Believe it or not, carbs, the most evil thing according to the media, is a very crucial aspect of your diet. Protein provides good slow burning energy, perfect for building muscle, but the rest of your body need fast burning carbs to function. Without carbs, you'll feel tired and have no energy, but you will also go catabolic, eliminating your hard work in the gym. Without the energy, you won't have what it takes to finish your reps in the gym.

Everyone has heard about low fat diets, and there are even some no fat diets out there. Believe it or not, fats can help you in more ways than you think. Just ask the doctors out there that are discovering new benefits to some types of fats, including the highly discussed Omega-3. Get some fat in there, don't cut it all out.

When you try to build muscle, you should maintain a healthy, balanced meal. Many people neglect them, but fats and carbs can really help you. And if you need help planning your meals, consult a healthy care professional.
