subject: Cordless Phones - Surely A Good Medium Of Transferring A Message [print this page]

Technology is getting advanced with a very rapid pace. Today whatever is in fashion might not be the same tomorrow. So, it won't be wrong to say that technology never gives up. Whenever people start thinking that this is the limit, technology once again comes in action and surprises everybody with an updated version of the same product. Quite obviously, people also start opting for the latest version. It seems that something similar happened in the telecoms sector as well which completely changed the lifestyle of every individual. The introduction of land line phones must have compelled the people to think that it is an amazing communication device and there can't be a better option as far as the telecommunication world is concerned. But as usual technology once again got in action and provided them the option of cordless phones.

Although both, landlines and cordless phones, are meant for the same purpose but still there is a vast difference between both of them. Land line phones work through cables or chords (i.e. the handset/receiver and base station are connected through cables) whereas cordless phones, as the name suggests, work without cables. Therefore, it won't be wrong to say that cordless phones or portable telephones are the advanced version of the land lines. Therefore, mobility is the main factor which draws a line of differentiation between the two. In layman's language, the users of a cordless phone can move from one place to other while on a call whereas land line phones don't enable its users to enjoy the same facility.

Cordless phones work on a different mechanism. They communicate through radio wave coming out from a base station which in turn is connected to a fixed telephone line. Therefore, their users don't need to stick to a particular place while either receiving or making a call. However, the users can use it only with in a particular range. They become even more important if there is someone old or sick person, who can't move from one place to another, in a house. In their case instead of asking the person to come closer to the phone, one can handover the receiver to such people. This is not all. Besides the above mentioned advantages, the users of cordless phones can enjoy many other benefits as well.
