subject: Nickelback Has Sold Millions Of Albums [print this page] Nickelback has sold millions of albums and has had sold out venues all over the world. But they have been mocked and criticized for their faceless and bland rock. And now they have been humiliated again. Some weeks ago, a lady called Coral Anne initiated a campaign on Facebook aiming to get a pickle more fans than the official Facebook page for Nickelback. However, this minor joke grew into a major campaign and hundreds of thousands of people joined in the page "Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback?. The band's name deliberately spelled wrong on the page to avoid copyright infringement. In the past two weeks, the pickle managed to top Nickelback. Currently, the fan number for the pickle is 1,481,561 fans (and counting) while the band has been left behind with 1,422,156 fans.
The page was inspired by "Can this onion ring get more fans than Justin Bieber?" page on Facebook. The campaigns chief Coral Anne launched the page less than a month ago. In the personal details of the page she wrote that this is all strictly intended for humor and nothing more or less. She is not using this page to support hatred towards the band and I respect Nickelback and do not hate them. She declared that she does not wish Nickelback or any other band any ill feeling and that she hopes they will see the same humour in making the page as she has.
Such public campaigns on Facebook at times are quite effective. A campaign encouraged John Mellencamp to quit smoking. It was started by the rockers son. Another campaign urged Mellencamp to run for Senate. And now a campaign for getting Betty White to host "Saturday Night Live" with over 450,000 people endorsing the idea has been successful to catch the attention of the "SNL" Producers.
There is no any official response by Nickelback yet. But reportedly the front man Chad Kroeger has sent a brief notice to the campaign chief organizer a screenshot that is posted by the Daily Swarm shows that Kroeger has written, "Your page will be closing in two weeks. But their fans strength on Facebook does not really reflect their popularity because they have sold above 30 million albums to date. Their latest album was launched in 2008 named Dark Horse. This album has sold over 2.6 million copies till now and reached at Number 4 in the UK charts. Get your Discount Nickelback Tickets before they sold out.
