Your costume is as good as your accessories! On your wedding day, you are in the spotlight and every eye is on you. You will be appraised and assessed and each detail of your wardrobe will be discussed. But, most of all, you want to look into the mirror and at your wedding photos and see the most beautiful woman in the universe. You can spend from a few thousands to lakhs of money on jewellery.
You can either buy jewellery in sets or mix and match them. Try and get sets which complement the clothes that you will be wearing. Or, get clothes that match the jewellery that you like. Your accessories depend a lot on what you plan to wear. A beautiful saree or a lehenga can be combined with heavily set kundan chokers, earrings and bangles. A gorgeous evening gown can be teamed with light silver or platinum jewellery.
If you don't want to invest heavily in wedding jewellery, you can always buy accessories in 1 gram gold or with a gold or silver finish. Several costume jewellery stores hold a special auction for jewellery over weekends, where you can rent the accessories you want.
If you are having a beach wedding, opt out of all jewellery and consider wearing flowers as your accessories. Exotic flowers in the hair, as a pendant, as bracelets or even anklets, can add a fresh look to match the blush in your cheeks.
The most important accessory for any reception is of course, your footwear. While gorgeous heels may make you look fabulous and put that extra bounce in your step, remember that you will probably be standing for a long time and you don't want sore feet bothering you.
With all accessories, be they shoes or jewellery, remember to wear them for a while as soon as you get them. This will enable you to break in shoes or find out if you are allergic to the jewellery or flowers.
