subject: Helpful Ideas On Air Conditioning [print this page]

There are many air conditioning costs to consider before deciding to purchase a new system for your new home or existing home.

The first thing you are going to consider is what manufacturer you are going to be using and what service company is going to install your new system. Air conditioning costs consist of the air handler, condensing unit, drain line, line set, duct board, and of course the labor for installation. Also if you decided on new duct work throughout your home you will also consider duct work installation.

It is always best to get multiple bids from several companies to perform your installation. Cheaper is not always better. As for the air conditioner the prices for that will be very close in prices due to the service company not controlling the price for equipment. Check on warranties for the system that you intend on purchasing.

Another type of air conditioning cost to consider is energy efficiency to see if your electric company will give you a rebate for your purchase. The air conditioner in your home uses the most energy especially in the summer time when temperatures reach 90 degrees. Always remember to perform a preventative maintenance at least two times a year to help with energy costs and prevent possible breakdowns.

Air conditioner filters will be another cost you will incur each month or every quarter depending on the type of filter you use. Pleated filters only need changing once every three months and catch 98% of dirt particles. This will keep your system cleaner. Preventative maintenance costs will be an average of $50 per service. Watch out for low tune-up specials because there could be hidden costs involved.
