subject: Learn The Truth About Marketing On Ebay [print this page] Let's face itLet's face it. Ebay is huge and isn't going anywhere, it's got millions upon millions of members and almost all of use it. Some people just use it for personal reasons, some people use it for business reasons.
Think of the concept of dimensions for a moment. People can walk around and not know about the different dimensions that exist. They don't see them or interact with them, so they don't exist to that person. The concept may seem off topic, but it isn't and I'll explain why.
There are basically three main types of people that are on eBay. The first type of person is there to buy and sell for personal reasons. A person wants to buy something like movies, furniture, cars etc. Just stuff that they can use. There are people who just sell this stuff because they don't want or need it anymore. This type of person makes up the vast majority of members.
The second type of person is a person that uses eBay as their online business and sells other businesses products. Use to be very popular, but dried up quite a bit because of competition and higher listing fees. Also, the eBay arbitrage people who buy things and turn around and sell them for a profit.
They may be people with a unique knowledge of something like antiques and they buy things that people are selling too cheaply and turn around and sell them at a profit. They may target room-age sales or other auctions and turn around and sell them on the huge marketplace that eBay is.
The third type of people are the people that sit there and say, eBay is a resource that I can use to bolster my online business. I can make money with the PROCESS of selling and not only from the sale.
They affiliate other products by putting links in the download page and on a delivery method. They will use it to capture e-mail addresses to add to their mailing list. They may even put Adsense ads on the download page. A person can also get traffic by putting a link on their about me page and putting it on the download page etc. This can all be accomplished by selling cheap info products on eBay.
That is what eBay is and that is what I think it will continue to be. It will continue to have the three different types of people that I talked about. The listing fees may get higher, but unless they get too high, I think things will continue to be this way.
