subject: Thinking of Buying a House? [print this page] Thinking of Buying a House? Thinking of Buying a House?
Simple answer, no! Why you might say? Well, I personally have seen my friends building houses here in Portland Oregon and it has no gone well. Many have burned a whole in their pocket underestimating the real costs involved in building a house. Sure there are many options available and you can customize to endless efforts but in the end you have something that eventually you will have to pay. The real reasons why not to build a house is so simple. It involves time, major time. Unless you're abillionaireon your next wave of receiving huge profits there is no need building a house. DR Horton can build houses, condo's, and town homes but he has money and we sadly don't. Still not convinced that buying a house is better? Let me lay it down for you. When purchasing a house you can ask neighbors about the area, you can asses property taxes, and estimate monthly bills.
You can tell right away when you've purchased a nice home. The people are nice, the house feels great, and the neighborhood value is climbing. Before spending millions on buying a house take a look at average selling prices in your county and go from there. For example if a house is selling for 5 Million and the average selling price for that county is 300,000 then you know this house is overinflated. There is probably no way you can sell it for more money later down the road. Ask yourself this real question, what are you looking for? And Why? Impressing somebody down the road with a giant mansion is yesterdays news and tomorrows worries. Try to be conservative and lay down a road map of what you absolutely need in a home. Then search, have fun, and buy wisely.
