Slow Computer Fix - Thre Solution To A Slow Running Computer

Slow computers are so annoying and draining. Killing time for five minutes waiting for a computer to boot up, or waiting over a minute for a program to appear, or dawdling around for 2-3 minutes waiting to get on the internet is maddening. Slow computers are a common hindrance now-a-days, and many users simply do not know what to do to speed them up and get a slow computer fix.

There are many reasons why a computer slows down. Today you will learn three of the basic culprits and what you can do to liven up your slow computer again.

#1 - A fragmented hard drive. Normally, program data belong together in order to work properly. When data is fragmented, parts of the data is spread across the hard drive and not aligned. Therefore, when data is needed, the computer has to re-establish the parts so as to make it function. If the data is spread out in numerous small bits, then more time is needed for it to reassemble.

What to do: An easy task to implement is disk-fragmentation. Here's how: Beginning at the start menu, find "Accessories," then "System Tools," and then click on the Disk Defragmentor. The process can take a while. In most cases 1-2 hours and in extreme cases, several days. Still performing this task every month or so will help keep your system running smoother and quicker and give you a slow computer fix.

#2 - Spyware. Slow computers are usually suffering from the damages of malicious software called spyware. As a computer user visits sites, this type of software installs itself onto the user's computer, without the user knowing, and collects information about how the computer is being used and the websites the user visits. What makes this type of software so insidious is that it can change computer settings, which can slow your connection speed and cause other weird happenings like change your printer setting or alter year search results.

What to do: Run your computer through a good spyware removal tool. Microsoft has an effective free tool, Malicious Software Removal Tool, designed to detect prevalent malicious software and help remove any infection found.

#3 - Registry errors. Every Windows PC has a registry. Your system registry holds a wealth of information about your computer, like information about applications that are installed. Slow downs often occur when your computer is processing registry entries left over from software that was previously unintstalled or not removed properly. Problems with the registry are a common cause of computer crashes and error messages, resulting in a slow computer.

What to do: A quality system and registry scanner will scan your computer's registry and windows and safely fix and repair the errors and invalid entries, resulting in improved PC performance.

Don't let a slow computer slow you down any more. You now have action you can take to get your computer off and running again and get a slow computer fix.
