Influencers- Do They Really Matter?
Influencers- Do They Really Matter?

So I've been talking to a lot of people in the business recently about my ideas about influencers and influencer marketing. A lot of idle chatter, but I'm trying to get a feel for others opinions on the matter, and how receptive they might be to what I have to say on the influencer formula. I was surprised to find that many were very skeptical about it all. I should have expected it, but still it hit me. A lot of them just did not recognize the power influencers had over the internet and those on-line.

Anyways, I was reading through various different fact lists online and found quite a few numbers of interest. 500 Billion was one of them. Look at that number. That's a pretty big number, wouldn't you say? Have you ever seen 500 billion things at once? Well, 500 billion is the number of opinions and impressions people share about products or services online with other people. Annually. I'm not talking about commercials or pop-ups or inserts. I'm talking about 500 Billion different tweets, status updates, blog posts, comments, etc. about products and services a year. YOUR products. YOUR services. On THE INTERNET.

Guess what percentage of those are shared on facebook. Sixty. Yes. Sixty Percent. Now, here's where I'm right and the skeptics are wrong. Of that 60% of 500 billion, 80% was generated by only SIXTEEN PERCENT, of those facebook users. Thats a lot of influence by only a few people. Even more numbers: the amount of advertisement dollars is drastically in the deficient compared to the amount of time spent online. A certain thought leader in the market predicts that in the next 3 years there will be a 50 billion dollar increase.

What this all means? Really? Do I have to spell it out for you? Son, the train has already left. The market is changing. And fast. We need to keep up.
