3 Tips for Winter Break That Will Put You Ahead

It's finally winter break! Now that you've kicked ass- or maybe got your ass kicked- during finals, it's time to finally relax and enjoy the next few weeks off of school. Yeehaw! That's the holiday spirit, crack open that egg-nog and 40 and get ready for your Christmas keg-stand!

But let me drag you back down to reality: Unemployment is still down 9.3%, every quarter or semester, there is a graduating class out there trying to getyour dream job, or trying to get intoyourmed school spot.

Good. Now that I kicked down your high horse, here are three things you can do this winter break to give your career (or future career) a kick start:

1. Make a list of goals Knowing where your priorities arebefore you start a whole new line-up of classes could help you plan for a better semester. I'm not telling you to make the list and attack them right now, but make the list now so you're already ahead of the pack. Aw, look you're leadership is showing! Looks like a future CEO to me !

2. APPLY! Just because classes are out doesn't mean the jobs done. If you've had your eye on a few internships, go out and apply for them. HR departments are lookingnow for spring semester interns! So this is just a friendly reminder to keep your A-game on and to keep your eyes on the prize.

Check out:Intern Queen,Entertainment Careers, orIntern Web for the extra push!

3. Kiss ASS- Did you already apply for an internship or a job? Well the holidays are here, so send them a friendly Holiday card! Now tell me, who's expecting an applicant to send their best regards for the holidays? No one. So why don't you be that shining star? Are you at an internship or job already? Send them extra winter-cheers! Dig up some money for a gift or some chocolates, it's the oldest trick in the book- but no one ever complained about a gift!

*Remember to keep these giftsHolidayneutral. Rather than doing yourself damage by sending a Christmas card to your Jewish employers just keep it neutral with a "Happy Holidays!"

And after you knock off those three on my list, then you can enjoy your break with as much merry ol cheer as you want! Just keep in mind that even Santa's sleigh has to go through those holiday-season checkpoints. Celebrate with caution!

Making mistakes so you don't have to,
