A Review Of The New Samsung Galaxy Tab
A Review Of The New Samsung Galaxy Tab

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first Android tablet to hit the market, and some superb design coupled with great specification may see the unit rival the iPad in the marketplace. Looking at the design of the device, obvious comparisons are going to be drawn with the iPad. To start, the Galaxy boasts a 7 inch screen that measures a full 2.7 inches less than the Apple, however this is not necessarily a bad thing.

A common complaint with the iPad is that is a touch to big to be a single handed device, and at the other end of the scale the likes of the Dell Streak are deemed to small at 5 inches. Thus this model positions itself perfectly for the average consumer. The unit does look superb, with the black and white design of the body oozing class, and the TFT screen offering crystal clear and colourful graphics. At 12 mm thickness, the unit feels slightly more chunky than rival models, but certainly this should not prove any problem what so ever. The display itself is capable of displaying a 600 x 1024 resolution coupled with an impressive colour range of 16 million. Samsung have wisely opted to use "Gorilla" glass on this model. This type of glass is incredibly durable, and is actually used on high speed trains. A wide array of sensors are tucked away behind the screen. In addition to the familiar accelerometer and proximity sensor this unit also features an impressive three axis gyro sensor, the purpose of this to give a more lifelike reaction to movement, especially useful for gaming applications.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab incorporates a great range of connectivity options so you can always be assured of that vital connection, whether you are at home or on the move. The device boasts 3G connectivity so whilst on the go you can achieve the fastpest possible transfer of data speeds. GPRS and EDGE are also covered should you be unlucky enough to not have 3G coverage. WiFi facilities are present so if you have access to such a data work, this will give you the fastest online experience. Media facilities are great, the tablet sports a high quality camera that can take photographs at a resolution of 3.15 mega pixels. A secondary camera is also present, however this is lower in resolution at 1.2 million pixels. The figures for video recording are more eye catching, with high definition result able to be achieved thanks to the 720P recording resolution. These new devices are going to be a big hit with many people, and thanks to a thoughtful layout and great specification, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the very best available.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab and the HTC Desire HD are available now.
