On the first Sunday of every month, the grand city of Granara held a vast market in Orion Square, directly in the heart of the city. Travellers and traders from all over the world came to offload their goods there. From simple fruit all the way to statues of pure gold, the market had everything and it was a perfect opportunity for the homeless street wanderers to get themselves a good meal. It took a huge amount of skill and stealth to steal anything from the market because of the increase of security for the event but the wanderers knew exactly what they were doing. They rarely worked alone and were masters of deceit.

Two eighteen year old boys were skulking around down an alley not far from the entrance to the market. They were staggeringly similar in terms of facial appearance however it was easy to distinguish between them because of their hair. One had slightly curly blonde hair that just reached down to cover his ears and the other had a jet black scraggly mop that draped right down to his shoulders. They were both extremely dirty and their clothes looked as if they had never been washed. They were easily identifiable as street wanderers. The blonde boy peered round the corner of the alley into the market where he could easily see his three target stalls selling pies, fish and fruit. He retracted his gaze and turned to face his accomplice.
'Right, you know the plan, lets get in and out of this place as quickly as possible. Work together and we can't go wrong. We're gonna be eating like kings tonight Mineas.' He had a soft voice but it had adopted a hint of lust after he witnessed the mountains of food displayed just fifty metres away from him. He was fairly well built for a street wanderer, or at least, it was obvious that he could overpower the other boy quite easily.
'Kings? Fa! We'll be lucky if we get an apple to share between us Jarrol,' replied Mineas, he had a much harsher and bitter tone to his voice. Jarrol ignored him but he allowed a thin smile to creep upon his face before he continued.
'Come on you. We're on.' Jarrol slipped round the corner and crept off towards the stalls, hidden in the shadows. Mineas took a deep sigh before following. He caught up with Jarrol as they positioned themselves behind a high wall, which was now the only obstacle between them and the row of stalls. Jarrol caught Mineas's eye and pushed his finger to his lips then beckoned him to move closer.
'Get up and take a look,' he whispered into Mineas's ear. He clasped his hands together and Mineas used them for a step up which enabled him to clamber up the wall. He allowed his eyes to just skim the top of the wall, knowing that if he was spotted by a guard or any of the stall owners then they're small adventure would be over before it had even begun. He edged his head up a little further so that he could just about make out the the back of a stall owners head.
'How's it looking?' Jarrol whispered up to him.
'Wait a minute,' Mineas raised his head a further couple of inches so that he could now see all three stall owners. They all had their backs to him and he knew that they would owe their success to luck if they managed to pull this off. He searched around for any guards occupying the area and managed to locate two in conversation twenty yards to his left and one more, again with his back to him, thirty yards straight in front of him.
'Theres only three guards,' he spoke almost inaudibly down to Jarrol, 'They're too far away to catch up with us if we make a run for it, but all three stall owners are standing right in front us.'
'Right, here we go then. Move quickly and as soon as I make my move, you won't have long, I'll only be able to hold them off for a minute at most I reckon,' said Jarrol.
'No worries, just make sure you get them away,' Mineas clung on to the wall and hoisted himself back up, readying himself for the signal. Meanwhile Jarrol headed towards the market entrance. He knew that the guards would apprehend him as soon as they saw him just because of his appearance and his dirt covered rags he was passing off as clothes. It was obvious he was here to steal. Because of this he also knew that he was going to have to act extremely quickly, which was part of the reason why they decided to go for stalls near the entrance.

He backed up against the corner of the wall by the entrance and peered round to spy on his targets. Two of them were busy with haggling customers and the third was standing away from her stall trying to attract potential customers. He didn't really feel as if he needed to distract them but the further they were from their stalls the more food Mineas could steal. His eyes swept greedily over the fresh pies still steaming in the sun and he hoped that Mineas would have the sense to go for one of them first.
He took a deep breath and turned the corner. It didn't take long for him to be noticed and the guards were called almost instantly. Only one of them heard the cries however and Jarrol was already at the stalls before the guard had even moved. It was now or never. Jarrol ran forwards, drew back his fist and pummelled it into fishmonger's stomach. The pie lady screamed for more guards as the fishmonger doubled over clutching his belly. Before the third stall owner even realised what was happening, Jarrol was upon him, pounding his fist into the mans chest before sweeping his legs with his foot. The man fell to the floor in pain. By now all three guards were sprinting towards Jarrol and he just had time to see Mineas slide over the wall before he turned on his heel and ran.
Mineas grabbed a handful of grapes and three apples and stuffed them inside his shirt before racing over to the pie stall which was unoccupied because the lady was now attending to the man on the floor next to her. He grabbed a pie in each hand and set off. He had just reached the market entrance when he heard a scream from behind him.
'THIEF! Help. Help me. Get him!' Without a second thought he ran as fast as he could away from the market. He knew exactly where he was headed, they had planned two meeting places in case one of the areas was full of guards. He didn't stop to look behind him but ran down as many alleyways as he could. He turned round corner after corner in the hope of losing anyone chasing him. After a few minutes he stopped running and took refuge behind a bin to get his breath back. He bit into one of the apples and let it sit in his mouth, savouring every second. He knew he was only a short walk away from the meeting place now and decided to finish the apple before heading off to meet Jarrol.
Every corner Jarrol turned it seemed like there were ten more guards waiting for him, he had to keep doubling back on himself which allowed the chasing guards to catch up with him every time he did so. He dared a glance behind him and saw four guards sprinting flat out after him with a further two a short distance behind them. He knew he could out run them but if he kept running into more of them he would be cornered sooner or later. He made to the right hand side of the cobbled path before veering off down an alleyway to the left. The guards weren't fooled in the slightest and again made up ground on him because they took the bend tighter. Jarrol flew down two more alleyways before leaping over a pile of wooden crates stacked outside a shop. He headed left again down another alley. Halfway down the passage, two more guards appeared. He made to go back on himself but two guards appeared behind him as well. He thought they must have split up in order to try and corner him. It had worked. He hesitated slightly before jumping onto a nearby windowsill and launched himself upwards towards a metal shop sign sticking out of the wall. He was dangling from the sign with all of the guards below him, waiting for him to fall. With a sudden surge of power Jarrol managed to hoist himself up onto the sign and balanced himself precariously upon it. He could easily reach the roof from here.
'It was a good effort this time my friends, a bit more training and you might have me one day,' he called down to the guards below and chuckled before lifting himself onto the roof and running off again. He knew where he was but it was quite a distance from the first meeting place. With their second choice of refuge being a lot nearer he decided to check if Mineas was there before heading off to the initial meet.
