Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance believes that Lee Westwood will definitely win a major sometime in the near future.
No one can dispute that it's been a great year for Westwood. He was instrumental in the Europe's successful Ryder Cup campaign and displaced Tiger Woods at the top of the world rankings, but with only two Callaway RAZR X Irons in the last 12 months, and no major victories, some are questioning whether he deserves to be considered the world's best.
Torrance, however, doesn't share any of those doubts, and believes that Westwood will break through with a major victory soon.
"Majors are very tough to win," Torrance said according to the Nottingham Post. "People get lifted. I mean, look at Y.E. Yang beating Tiger at the 2009 PGA Championship. That was beyond belief that he could do that but that's what the occasion does. I think Lee Westwood will find a major. I'm sure of it."
The Scot also said that he never doubted Westwood's Callaway RAZR X Irons , even when he endured his lowest point during a winless period between 2004 and 2006.
