This video introduces the process our brain filters and process images and makes us see the three dimensional world. This may be an eye opener for the sceptics who think there is nothing intellectual about art. This video just reinforces how art encompasses forms of science and maths. The next videos in the series will touch upon other aspects of human knowledge which are integrated so naturally in art.
To be able to translate what we see convincingly on paper we should be aware of how we see.We only have two imagesin 2Dwhich our eyes receives when we look at objects. The brain does the translation and reconstructs the 3D world. Once we become aware of how the translation process we can see the 2D image without the brains additional information and can produce more faithful 2D reproductions.
This process seems very simple but those who attempt it know it needs lot of practice and hard work. One has to also become conscious of the involuntary function of "seeing" and dissect it into its stages or components so we can break out down to put it on a flat surface. This video just presents a few challenges and pointers onto the complex process of seeing. If one starts thinking when they see the purpose of the video will be served. At this point the viewer's task starts. They should now see things in a different way and keep seeing more in the everyday scenes...
