BidRivals - Is It a Scam?
BidRivals - Is It a Scam?

When I had first heard of BidRivals, it was on a popular blog I read everyday. The concept was really interesting. You bid and the price of the product only goes up a few cents each time. I had heard of this type of web page a long time ago, but never tried it.

I decided to give it a try and see what all theexcitementwas about. I clicked on the link in the blog post to go to BidRivals. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a huge list of auctions that are going on right now. It was good to see such a large variety of items because some other sites really don't have much interesting to me. I scanned the site looking for something I can see myself bidding on.

Then I saw it, it was GranTurismo 5 for the PS3. It just came out a couple weeks ago and I hadn't gotten out to the store to pick it up yet. I tried clicking on the bid button below the current auction price, which was just 5 cents. It took me to a registration page. There wasn't much to it. All it asked for was my first name, username, password and email. Seemed pretty safe to me. The only hard part was deciding on a username because my usual was one.

After you succeed on completing that page, you are shown the different bid packages available. From 50 bids all the way to 1000. Each bid only costs $0.65 when you break each package down. It doesn't seem like they give a deal on the larger packages either. Each one costs the same per bid. I went ahead and purchased the lowest package just to try out the site and see where it goes.

I went out to find the GrandTurismoauction to see it had been bid up to $0.49 since I had seen it last. It was already within the last 10 seconds stage and people where in competition to see who could be the last to bid. Each time someone bids, the auction is set back at 10 seconds and counts down to zero.

I quickly spotted the 'BidAgent' in the top right of the screen. It automatically bids up the auction to a price you set. I set in $5.00 and carefullymonitoredit. I guess this feature allows you to check out multiple auctions at once, but I had to watch and see, it was too exciting. The auction went on for a good 5 minutes and you won't believe this, but I actually won after upping the 'BidAgent' to $6.00. Thats right...I had just won Gran Turismo for a fraction of the sale price in a store. I was sooo excited.

Bidrivals asks for your shipping information and thats all there is. I'm waiting for it to arrive and by thetrackingnumber, it should be here tomorrow. I can really see this getting addicting.
