Increase Flexographic Printing Margin with the Servo 3000

Profitable flexographic printing requires a healthy profit margin. A healthy flexographic printing profit margin requires that the printer have his substrate waste and press down time under control. It also requires that his operation is such that it provides a reasonable return on invested capital. These factors typically require a servo driven press but a new servo press can run from a quarter million to a million dollars. For substantially less than the cost of a new servo flexographic printing press a printer can add the Servo 3000 Digital Infeed + Re-register system by Rotary Technologies to an existing flexographic press. An existing press, running with the easily attached Servo 3000 add on, will commonly reduce unnecessary press stops and substantially reduce substrate waste. In addition adding the Servo 3000 to an existing press will allow the flexographic press to take on more printing jobs, further increasing profit potential.

The Servo 3000 Digital Infeed + Re-register system makes use of a proprietary algorithm. It meters substrate precisely into the press. Its servo system follows the press, taking into account the elastic properties of the web. The Servo 3000 makes the web respond to flexographic printing press timing and speed, both acceleration and deceleration. The system filters web properties, breaking revolutions into millions of parts. This system allows the flexographic printing press to come into resolution in one press length. This results in substrate savings with every start of the press. Because of the exemplary web tension control afforded by the Servo 3000 the operator will need fewer press stops and adjustments. This further reduces substrate waste.

Adding the Servo 3000 to an existing press adds a number of possible applications including profitably printing on extremely thin and/or expensive substrates, printing extended content labels, finishing extended content labels done on a digital press, and printing additional content onto previously printed rolls. To do these jobs the press needs to have the excellent web tension control of a servo unit and needs to be able to print at high resolution at full press speed. By adding the Servo 3000 to an exiting press the printer will keep waste to a minimum, add better paying jobs, and invest a substantially lower amount of money in the process. This will increase profit margin in flexographic printing on an existing press.
