History of Laser Therapy
History of Laser Therapy

To better understand laser therapy, it is important to understand light. Life on earth has depended on "light energy" since time began. Plants grow and flourish with sunlight. Human bodies need sunlight or we see health problems such as rickets, vitamin D deficiency and seasonal affective disorder in the absence of sunlight. The method in which laser therapy heals the body is through the photon energy found in light. The first working laser was made in 1960. Following that, medical researchers focused on using high powered lasers for surgery.

Currently, there are over 3000 publications on the positive effects of low-level laser therapy. Various organizations around the world are funding laser research including, NASA, U.S armed forces, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association and Arthritis Society, to name a few.

At Brio Integrative Health Centre, we are proud to provide you with this truly effective therapy to compliment our naturopathic medicine and acupuncture services.

In the month of August, I visited Dr. Fred Kahn and his laser therapy clinic in Toronto. I spent a full day at the Meditech clinic observing doctors and laser technicians treat a variety of conditions. I spoke with patients suffering with back pain, arthritis, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, knee pain and even skin problems. Many of these patients had tried all sorts of drugs and surgery without any relief.

We have two Bioflex professional laser machines, the exact same ones featured in the news report. These systems are the best in the market; it allows us to adjust all parameters so we can customize treatments for each individual.

I only wished that low-level laser therapy was around when I had all my injuries!

So if you have an injury, new or old, low-level laser therapy can help you.
