How Has Our World Been Changed by Green Milestones?

When people talk about milestones that affect the world we live in, two words are commonly used - green and environmental. Policies and marketing are are flooded with remarks of sustainability and renewable resources. Looking around the events, what events have politicians, scientists and the developed countries deemed important to the modern green lifestyle?

Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs

A simple green option to lighting is the CFL or compact fluorescent lamp, which has been produced to lower the usage of the old, energy inefficient incandescent bulb. Utilizing less power and having a longer life span while still giving the same light, these bulbs are an alternative bulb source for a lot of us. On the other hand, just like all fluorescent lamps, CFLs also contain mercury which makes their disposal more difficult.

The price of these bulbs is greater than the regular bulb, though they last longer which makes them another reason why CFLs are more sympathetic to the environment and our pocket.

Extreme Weather

Extreme Weather is a name for weather incidents that are at the excesses of historical instances. Lots of us will remember the earthquakes across Haiti, hurricane Katrina, the boxing day Tsunami and the Indian ocean Tsunami; all these events plus many others have occurred over the last decade and all over the world. It is thought that these events are only the start of it, with more disasters coming our way, though many climatologists can't agree whether mankind is having a negative impact on the world we live in.

Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is a kind of energy that is made from natural resources - sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished.

To stimulate sustainable development in the world, these energy resources need to be utilized, which has been taking place for the last decade and hopefully will continue to grow. We can no longer rely on the reserves we have at the moment to generate electricity and need to look in alternative directions to create it To cut emissions and discover long term plans to the supply, renewable energy is an important part of our future.

Mexican Gulf Oil Spill

It is not likely many of you will not know about a somewhat recent disaster, one that is still being felt worldwide - the Mexican Gulf oil spill. The Deepwater Horizon oil platform was at the centre of the problems, with a large explosion and fire on April 20th 2010. To begin with the reports stated that the oil leakage was minor, how wrong those reports actually were. By the end of May, the predicted amount of the leaked oil was revised from 5,000 barrels a day to 12,000 -19,000 barrels a day and was expected to increase.

Presently oil spills and other oil related problems are coming more and more frequently. Recent developments raised questions once again - are we even capable of underwater oil drilling without threatening the environment extensively?

Being environmentally friendly is a matter of personal decision - everybody may choose unique way. I am trying to be environmentally friendly condos in Toronto agent. Can you think of any solution for you?
