Finding the perfect bread in the bakeries in Arizona

I have had an obsession with bread ever since young. From the day my mum made me my first peanut butter sandwich, I had fallen in love with it. I like the taste, the texture and the way it can be combined with so many different types of spread to give so many different types of taste.

As I grew older, I became more health conscious and started looking for bread that was made from whole grain, with all natural ingredients and no preservatives. I started to develop what I would call the expert bread tasting syndrome'. I would immediately be able to tell if the bread I was eating was made from all natural ingredients in one bite.

My obsession with finding the perfect bread grew so strongly that I decided to take a road trip with Jane, my best friend, to find the perfect bread. We decided to take a week off work to sight see and also to visit the many Arizona cafes and bakeries.

From the bakeries in mesa Arizona, to the bakeries in Phoenix Arizona, we scouted for the perfect Arizona health food and the perfect bread. In the first few days, we found many of the bakeries selling very nice tasting muffins. Jane loved the brownies but I found them a bit too sweet for my taste.

However, I was still largely disappointed as I have yet to find the perfect bread. A week flew by very quickly. I was beginning to feel that the trip was a wasted one. Jane consoled me and reminded me that at least we got to taste some nice muffins and brownies.

Our last stop was this Phoenix bakery that many people recommended. They said that a queue would form the moment the bakery opened in the morning and would hardly subside till it closed in the evenings.

I was intrigued and felt a renewed sense of hope. We took a short drive there and from afar; we could already see the long queue snaking around the corner. There were about 20 people in the queue. Could this be the one?

We got out of the car and joined the queue. We waited for about 15 minutes before we could buy the much-anticipated bread. I bought a loaf of honey whole wheat bread and a loaf of Sun Tomato bread. Jane bought a loaf of Apple Cinnamon & Cinn Swirl.

We got back into the car and I stared at the two loaves of bread in my arms. They were like long lost lovers. I bit into them and immediately got the shock of my life. Finally I had found it! This was the perfect healthy bread, the ultimate Arizona health food. Jane could tell from my eyes that I had finally found the one.

We both started bursting into laughter. It was an amazing moment and I guess no one would be able to understand how a loaf of bread could do this to two grown women.
