Now a days, all of us are connected to internet via office or personal computer, where backbones are used as Lease line, Broadband or etc. You can protect your home PC with a combination of strategy and the right tools. Here are some good tips to secure your personal computer without affecting from Virus/Spyware/Malware or others.
Here are the tips:
Do the needful to enable the Operating systems built in Firewall (like, Window's XP with SP2/SP3, Windows Vista/7) throughout.
Try to avoid installing any third party's software which can act as firewall, unless you are accustomed to this. This will unnecessary create hazards.
Install the Anti Virus software and ensure update is scheduled at least thrice in a week at you convenient time. Recommend to use licensed version rather free version.
Avoid to visit and download new screen saver/mouse cursor/online games sites which are creating backdoor for Trojan/Spyware/Malware.
If you suspect, your computer has already got affected with such unwanted backdoors which causes your computer performance terribly slow and indicating other symptoms, follow the below steps to retrieve back its old performance.
Open "Command Prompt" (press the Windows flag and R, then type in cmd and press Enter) and type: "netstat o" . Consider the column "PID" which is the "Process Process IDentifier-ID" and compare these ids with the Task Manager. In Windows, you must open the Task Manager by pressing CTRL ALT DEL or CTRL SHIFT ESC simultaneously (if you do not see the PID column go to View> Select Columns and select PID). For example, suppose we look for the PID and is not, now is time to look in the Services tab, as many ordered by PID, clicking on the PID column. Identify the suspicious process and its associated services and kill them completely. In this regard, you might have to uninstall some software which are already got installed without your knowledge.
Go to "SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILTY" checkbox and then "Startup" menu by pressing the Windows flag and R, then type in type: "msconfig".
Uncheck those item which are not required at Startup time.
