As far as the best post workout supplement, I'm going to avoid all premeade/premixed shakes and strictly tell you what I use and what has given me the best results.
After a good list there is nothing better then a satisfying shake, one that actually makes you feel your muscles pumping and growing. Unfortunately, these aren't eadily available in stores and if they are you may have to leave an arm or leg to cover the costs.
Thankfully you can easily make your shake at home with readily available supplements and save your limbs.
The ingredients in the best post workout supplement would be:
1. Whey Protein2. Creatine3. Dextrose
Now many people think they should be making their post workout shakes with milk, this is false. Milk simply slows the absorbtion process and thats the last thing you need.
Whey Protein
100% Whey by Optimum Nutrition (Chocolate)
This is my absolute favorite protein. Mixes beautifully and has everything in it your looking for. Available at any serious supplement retailer. I do not recommend the cookies and cream flavor.
Creatine
Prolab Creatine Monohydrate
As long as you already have creatine in powder form you're in good shape. If not Prolab Creatine Monohydrate is my recommendation. Mixes well and functions beautifully. Also it is very affordable at five dollars per one-hundred grams.
Dextrose
NOW Dextrose Powder
Not much to say about it, very affordable. At five dollars per two pounds you really can't beat it.
Grab your shaker cup, toss in some water first to stop the gunky buildup in the bottom. Add forty grams or protein, forty grams of dextrose and 7 grams of creatine.
You now have the best post workout supplement shake.
