Aretha Franklin is one of the all time best singers the world has ever seen, and no one can deny that having a powerful voice like hers is something most of us would like to have. To be honest i doubt that anyone can reach her voice unless they already have but don't lose hope yet. Most of us can still attain a powerful singing voice no matter our starting point with a few simple exercises:

How does your voice function? Overall your voice is created by 3 factors:
Breathing Apparatus, which is your abdominal muscles, diaphragm and lungs
Larynx with vocal
Resonance tube which is the nasal cavity and oral cavity.
When we use our voice, air is coming from the lungs through the compressed vocals in which vibrations are coming out through the resonance tube. From here it comes out of the mouth where it eventually reaches the receivers eardrum.
There are 3 factors for a good voice where only one of them is possible to change significantly by yourself. By using your diaphragm to breathe instead of your chest your breathing becomes more effective, at the same time you avoid the tensing the muscles like you do when you breath with your chest which goes to your larynx and makes your voice very strained and tense.
Exercises to train your diaphragm:
Blow out lights when you blow out lights your stomach is working spontaneously as a pump where the musculature is getting trained. Use small and hard knocks like if you where hyperventilating.
Take a deep breath and breath out I a s-sound
Take a deep breath and breath out I a s-sound though in the end this time really blow hard with the diaphragm in ekstra powerful s towards the end. Relax afterwards.
Make 2-4 ekstra with f-sound instead of s-sound
