At some point in the not too distant future - more of our home appliances will be driven adn controlled right from our mobile devices.
There is likely to be a brand new wave of mobile applications developed for the home appliance market soon which home appliance manufacturers will need to take notice of.
The new apps (which will initially be available only on the apple range of devices) will be so you can remotely programme your home appliances and gadgets in the home.
One such application will be a power cut checker, it isprimarilydesigns for keeping a check on a power cut to your fridge and or freezer as the main financial loss during a power cut is with food having to be thrown away.
The expected range of applications will be designed so that can hook up with your fridge freezer and alert you if there is loss of power. For this to happen, fridge freezer manufacturers will need to create an interface which uses the wifi network or bluetooth connectivity to get the mobile device programmed. Once that is done they can use basic push messaging system, using the home broadband wifi to send a signal to a web app which then relays it direct to the owners iphone or ipad.
It is not known when the first app-enabled fridge freezer will be launched but as soon as it does we will be running a testandfeaturing it in ourfridgefreezer buyers guide
We are expecting other app enabled gadgets to be flooding the market in 2011 such as blinds that can be opened and closed from an app, ovens that can be turned on or off and even fully controlled and also the household water and central heating. The world of apps is likely to massively change our lives in the coming years.
