Affiliate Marketing - How to Be Successful When Promoting Amazon Products

Amazon is a big company who will pay you to promote their products. Affiliate marketing with Amazon is a win-win scenario. They have already spending millions of dollars per year on advertising fees and usually it is not very effective. So why not take some of that money and use it to pay people like us to do the hard work for them?

Basically that is exactly what the affiliate program aims to do. Once you set up an affiliate account with Amazon you can choose a product and begin promoting it in any way you choose but subject to their terms and conditions. So every time a product gets sold as a result of your blogging or website efforts you will receive your commission anywhere from 2-8% depending on the product category.

The wonderful part of the whole process is that once you do it for one product, repeating the procedure over and over again becomes your second nature.

Usually in a matter of days you could be promoting hundreds of products and profiting anywhere from 2-8% of the purchase price each time one item is sold. So there is no reason for you to waste time. You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

However there is something important that I'll be talking about before you start getting excited. It is about choosing a product/niche to begin promoting. This is a very important topic for several reasons. First of all every niche inside of Amazon comes with a different compensation rate.

Electronic goods are generally paying a lower percentage but you have to factor in that the purchase price is much higher. So if the compensation rate is 2% on a television and it costs $800, then you would make $16 off of every sale you made.

Once you start generating traffic to your site you can see how this can easily add up to a substantial amount of money every day, for doing only a few minutes worth of work!

Secondly, you will likely want to choose a niche that is hot at the particular moment. TV's, iPods, and cellphones are always hot so if you go with any of these items you shouldn't have any problem generating and converting traffic to sales.

Also, if you have some experience in a particular niche then it will be much easier for you to write informative articles on the products and broaden your marketing knowledge.

Once you've decided on a niche then you will have to begin creating a simple website to promote it.
