One of the biggest problems in network marketing is the ability to generate enough quality prospects for your business. Many companies teach an older style to prospecting. When I was first introduced to network marketing I had no clue about how to really build a successful business. Because of this I took the word of my upline as gospel when it came to how to grow my business.
The majority of distributors that join a network marketing business are broke. They simply do not have any money or very little money to fund the growth of their business. This is a big problem and puts them at a disadvantage from the very beginning. In my case because I tried to be coachable I bought in to my company's marketing system. For example, I got on autoship, I purchased tons of business opportunity leads to cold-call and I attended as many trainings and briefings that I could possibly go to. All of these things cost money and in the beginning most distributors cannot really afford to do these things but they are taught that they must do these things in order to be part of the core team.
Before I moved my business to an online network marketing business I was deeply in debt. I lost my shirt in because I was constantly going to weekly briefings, purchasing generic home-based business leads, AutoShip, and a whole other slew of expenses while NOT bringing in enough sales for my business. It was really dumb on my part, it just goes to show you that the majority of distributors including myself, do not know anything about running a small business.
Today, I've learned from my past mistakes and I now realize how I should've done things differently. My reasons for going online were not because I wanted to abandon my company it was because I needed to find a more automated way to generate prospects. Online Network Marketing makes it so much easier to attract highly qualified prospects. I'm able to teach other network marketers how to use technology to build their business. This makes online network marketing just as duplicatable as offline. It was the best decision I ever made for my business.
