How to potty train a small dog?

I have seen many ways of toilet training small dogs from close dog owner friends. In the end, it all comes down to getting your dog to recognize its pooping and peeing area. After that, you're free of having to clean feces on the floor, fabric, shoes, sofa and etc.

Scenario 1: Jeanie and her white schnauzer, Cookie

Jeanie and Cookie live in a studio apartment. Next to Cookie's cage there is always a pile of newspapers (about 5 sheets) laid spread on the floor. There's a small litter box with sand inside the cage where Cookie goes to pee in. Whenever its time for Cookie to make "big business", she'll automatically go and squat in the middle of the papers. All Jeanie's got to do is wrap the papers and dispose them.

Scenario 2: Kazu and his brown miniature pinscher, Beckham

Kazu and Beckham live in an apartment. There is a spare bathroom which Beckham goes into for both "small and big businesses" on the floor. Kazu sprinkles litter sand over the feces to rid of the nasty smell before picking them up with plastic gloves.

Scenario 3: Cynthea and her beagle,Chloe

After every meal, Cynthea would open the front door to let Chloe out into the garden. Chloe will do the usual sniffing the "right" patch of grass and then release. Cynthea makes sure to do so too before going to sleep, and the moment she wakes up.

Which do you prefer?

Scenario 1: This way separates the poop and pee area which makes your dog more inclined to use the litter box with little occupied.Though this means you cannot procrastinate in cleaning the poop exposed to air.

Scenario 2: This way the smell of the excretion is only contained in a small area.Though you have to clean the toilet floor 3 times a week.

Scenario 3: This way you do not have to clean the poop all the time.Due to the small size of a toy dog, sometimes soil microorganisms devour the excretion faster than you going to pick them up.Though your dog will get it paws dirty and you have to clean them each time before letting them inside.

You get the idea---basically it's all about getting your dog to be obedient and it's not to happen without your constant encouragement and monitoring for atleast 5 days. For detailed steps of toilet training small dogs, Click this link:http://www.squidoo.com/dog-problem-understanding-solution
