Inexperienced Politicians aka doom of the country- Omar Adbullah's inflammatory remarks on Kashmir

Perhaps, and I earnestly wish that, Omar Abdullah will forever regret his words echoed in the state assembly in Jammu & Kashmir yesterday. He made some really provocative and, in my opinion, seditious remarks about the state of J&K, which by all means is an integral part of India. Some of them were ironically funny too.

Yesterday, while answering a log of impending questions and various allegations against him, his party and the way he has been dealing with problems in Kashmir, he gave his tongue a free flow without realizing that the aftermath could be dangerous. But just as the utterly biased media in this country has been behaving, he rightly thought that the aftermath won't at least come through the media.

He called India an outstanding' issue and slammed BJP's stand of Kashmir is an integral part of India'. He reportedly (Economic Times) asked BJP members why they had often stated that Kashmir was an integral part of India and why they did not say the same about Tamil Nadu? Now that says volumes about the IQ level of the CM of the state. Thanks to Pt. Nehru, yes, India has remained an outstanding' issue in the UN. But internally, India has always emphasized that J&K is an integral part of India. Also, Omar Abdullah urged GOI to initiate a dialogue with Islamabad. By asking so Omar Abdullah has questioned the very veracity of Jammu & Kashmir being an integral part of India. Problems of J&K are internal and should be discussed and resolved within the country between all the relevant parties including separatist groups.

He termed Kashmir as a political issue that needed a political resolution. According to the learned CM, "It is a political issue and cannot be addressed through development, employment or good governance only". What else have we been indulging in Mr. Abdullah? You guys brutally threw Kashmiri Pandits out, issued threats and warning against them, occupied their houses, you broke temples and now you are off and on indulging in stone pelting and other destructive activities - and all throughout vehemently protesting against the removal of article 370! Who is against the political resolution is anybody's guess.

Now look at some of these remarks which found place in The Indian Express- Omar Abdullah termed the comments of Home Secretary G.K Pillai about the relaxation of curfew in Srinagar city as unwarranted. "Such statements create a bad impression about New Delhi in Kashmir and also undermine the credibility of our institutions". My first reaction was what!?' I mean what is he trying to say here?? Can someone enlighten me on the above mentioned utterly idiotic, nonsensical statement? I'll be thankful.

Secondly, the IE reports and I quote- "the Chief Minster also said that the decision to include opening of schools in the eight-point peace proposal was wrong. In the last three months, the schools were open in rural areas though they were closed in urban areas. The decision to include opening of school in eight-point proposal was wrong. Had they (Centre) sought suggestions from me in this regard, I would have told them not to include it,' he said." Then what would you have suggested them to include in eight-point peace proposal, Sir? I've several ideas of what you would have but I'd let it be because I know the readers also have some idea of it. It's certainly not a developmental issue, is it? What has opening of schools got to do with the resolution of Kashmir problem? Well the answer is, a lot Sir, a lot! Because by normalizing the day to day activities will bring back some amount of normalcy.

And to conclude, I'd like to reiterate that Kashmiri Pundits are vital stakeholders in the dialogue about anything related to Kashmir and nobody should forget that. The maximum amount of pain has been borne by them and also the sacrifice in terms of losing their motherland and being dislocated in their own country. Their problems should not be forgotten and it's only ironical that while talking about the solution for Kashmir, Omar Abdullah completely forgot to even mention them.
