HP has some ambitious plans laid out when it comes to networking. The company has announced that it is partnering with the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B), to launch the HP Network University, which will educate IT professionals on the delivery of next-generation networks. The university will be based at the IIIT-B campus in Electronic City, Bangalore and will provide the tools, methodologies and labs to teach the latest standards in networking solutions.
S. Sadagopan, Director, IIIT, Bangalore, remarked, "Next-generation networks built on converged infrastructure are going to be central to the data center of the future. The Network University professionals will be able to design, build and operate these next-generation networks."
The company has also announced that it is going to roll out a complete range of certification programs for existing and potential partners, as well as students. The courses are expected to be spread over three to six months and will cover basic to advanced levels of networking, network security, consulting, unified communication and converged infrastructure. "There is a fundamental shift in technology and network is undergoing an evolution. However, the biggest challenge our country is facing in this regard is the skills gap. This initiative will be our attempt to address this challenge," said,Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director, HP India.
The course curriculum has yet to be finalized though Som P. Satsangi, Director - Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking, HP Enterprise Business, HP India. The courses will be conducted under the upcoming Network University initiative and will be held at IIIT-B. Course attendees will learn how to transform their proprietary environments into open, agile networks and data centers based on HP converged infrastructure.
