More and more people everyday are learning how to make pasta themselves because it is much healthier than what you can buy in the stores already prepared.
At home you have total control of what ingredients go into your pasta but the pasta you buy in the stores... you don't.
Now I know what you are thinking... "I work all day and the last thing I want to do is spend another 2 or 3 hours making my own pasta!"
Don't worry because it won't take you hours to make and you won't believe how easy it really is.
First lets start off with the ingredients you will need to make your pasta:
- 2 cups of unbleached flour
- 3 large eggs
- salt
Now that we have our ingredients ready, here are the 7 easy steps to making your very own delicious and healthy pasta.
Step #1 - Pour the entire 2 cups of flour on your work surface ( cutting board will do ) creating a mound of flour and then make a well in the middle of the mound. Crack your eggs and put them inside the well along with a pinch of salt.
Step #2 - Now use a fork and mix the eggs and salt that is in the middle of your flour mound. Slowly mix in the flour that is on the edge of your mound a little at a time. When your dough becomes thicker and starts to stick to your fork, put your fork away and use your hands to bring in the flour from the sides of your mound until all the flour is mixed with your dough.
Step #3 - Sprinkle a little bit of flour on your work surface and place you ball of dough on it. Place the heal of your hand on your ball of dough and push out and away from you and then fold the dough over on itself. Keep repeating this process and turn your dough a little bit each time you do until your dough is completely smooth.
Step #4 - Divide your dough into 3 even pieces and roll each piece into a ball.
Step #5 - Cover the 3 balls of dough with a towel and let sit for about 15 minutes.
Step #6 - When the 15 minutes are up, take your rolling pin and flatten your balls of dough to about a thickness of 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch.
Step #7 - Dust them with a little bit of flour and then cut them into strips 1/4 inch thick.
