I recently purchased this fighting games after reading a bunch of reviews. I had been wanting it and was finally able to get a copy in my hands. When the first time I play the game which I do really like punching it good for physical exercise and this games really rocks.
I heard that the game has a in game calorie counter and that is absolutely true. The problem with this is that it doesn't take your heart rate in account. The thing that actually tells you truthfully how many calories you burn. So when you are between fights which isn't very long those calories are not being added up. For those of you wanting to use this as a game to workout and get off the couch and lose weight then go and buy it NOW!
After playing for about 30 mins I realized that the calories were just not matching up. Lucky for me I actually have a polar heart rate monitor that keeps track of my exercises and tells me the exact calories I burned for the duration of gameplay. I ended up throwing that on and ignoring the in game counter as it is deemed pointless to me if you really want accuracy. I played for 45 more mins, having a complete blast at everything to training and events.
Finally at the end of everything I check my heart rate monitor to see I was sitting at 700 cals burned. Not too mention the cals I couldn't account for in the original 30 mins. This is one amazing workout and I will now add it to my weekly arsenal to drop those lbs that I so desperately want and need off.
Play games is amazing, the graphics are great, customization is there and of course the ability to drop weight while having fun.
There are considered problem areas though and no game is without them. Not being able to move your feet is a little irratating. We all know that in a real fight you don't stand there because you will get pounded (or an ear bitten off). I move my feet quite a bit and I have to do the in game cal which requires you to quickly put the move controllers under your chin and press the circle button. Then you're done. This is all while in the process of a fight so you better be fast at a recal.
Lighting, as we know lighting can affect this dramatically and I am sure that my lighting is not the best. I will be fixing that today. Other than those two problems, which aren't really problems to me the game is astonishing.
If everything such as your lighting and your feet are good then you will have the best gameplay you've ever witnessed. When I started everything was perfect and I was landing punches like no other. The person's who say that the guy is slow and it is not true 1:1 ratio when swinging are incorrect. They need to fix the issues that I have mentioned. I swung, and swung fast, moved my arms around like a flailing idiot to see if it was good in a sparring match and it is dead on with the fast movements and accuracy.
Do yourself a favor and be like EA, GET IN THE GAME!
Finally my body, yes my body aches. I feel like gumby, but even with this all I can think about is getting back on the game to rack and stack my stats even more along with getting a phenomenol workout. It's a great feeling and my body is telling me I did a great job. If you were questioning yourself on getting this then I say stop thinking about it and just do it. You won't regret it even with the little issues here and there. I would also suggest getting a heart rate monitor that keeps track of your time and calories that way you know exactly how well you did. It's good if you are trying to go based on time or based on calories that way you are 100% certain that you did great or even better than what you thought you would.
