In the development of present era use of lights has become unavoidable in each and every technological development not only for eliminating darkness but also for some constructional and conventional purpose. Where there is use of electronics device there is use of lights some times as indicators and for warnings. Therefore, modern technology is always in searching of new invention in lighting technology that will be very concise and low power consumer. LED is the important and most vital come out of such research that has already taken place in the field of electronics technology. None can even think about their present smallest size if any one does not seen it by eyes some times I my self become confused of recognizing a LED light in circuit board when it is off although I am an Electronic Engineer yes their size is admiringly too small (a few millimeter cube).
The LED light is a S.S (Solid State) lamp which is the practical implementation of LED (Light Emitting Diode). Due the advancement of diode technology actually the LED has been introduce to the world technology. Diode, basically, is a usable form of semiconductors (materials whose properties lies between conductor and Insulator). These LED lights may be referred to conventional LED to OLED & PLED. The OLED & PLED are abbreviated as organic light emitting diode and polymer light emitting diode respectively. These two types of LED aren't commercially available but research is going on to make lamps as well as other electronic devices with the use of OLED & PLED.
In the present crisis of electrical powers LED has the best solution it only needs few mile amperes if current and can operate in very low voltage it is about 5 - 10 volts. Hence two small batteries are sufficient to operate them. Due to this feature these lights are being used in various purposes such as torch light, traffic light, Led TV, for decoration purpose, LED display and so no. Automotive (cars, truck, bus and bikes), bicycle lighting and locomotive (train) as well as lighting on shops and lifts are the main practical application fields of LED lights. It has gained most popularity on the applications of billboard (or advertising board) making around the world where lots of designs are done to attract customers. However, LED flashlights are extremely effective for cameras for making efficient flash lighting with lowest power consumption as power consumption of LED flashlight remains low compare to conventional flashlights. Their average life time that is experienced so far is reasonably good; but experiments are going on to make longer lasting and LED must not kept in high temperature.
LED, however, has a draw back that is since diode is a electronics device and work only with DC power supply; hence, user have to be conscious about that the LED lights will not withstand to the AC supply without making any AC DC conversion by a converter. Converter is basically a rectifier circuit that converts alternating current or power to direct current or power and this circuit is kept fit internally at the LED lights.
