Well AMD and Intel have come out with single and dual core processors that are designed for slim designs and to top it off, they are also ultra low voltage processors which means your laptop can get up to 9 hours or more of battery life.
I myself, just purchased a toshiba slim design with a 13 inch screen that gets 9 hours of battery life with a 6 cell battery. Thats a lot of time to spend on a laptop at once, but if you get a good game and a decent video card, its possible.
Now keep in mind that new hardware is being released all the time, in fact, every 18 months the speed of information technology hardware doubles! So don't spend too much money on a new machine. Just upgrade.
