Here are some free lessons to help you get started.
Lesson 1: Choosing basic equipment.
It used to be the case that good photography equipment can be prohibitively expensive. As a result, many people refrain from picking up photography as a hobby due to cost issues. However, there are a wide range of options in today's market. You can buy decent digital cameras for just several hundred dollars (as opposed to thousands of dollars). Depending on how far you want to take your hobby, you can always pick something that is within your budget. You are going to need a digital cam of decent quality, and a tripod stand. For basic cameras, you want to pick those that allow you to capture images in higher resolutions (higher quality). It's also good to have a camera with several lighting options.
Lesson 2: Practice time.
Next, take your camera outdoors during different time of the day and try taking some photos. You may want to choose venues that you enjoying visiting such as the park or the beach. Notice how the morning, mid noon, and evening light differs in terms of texture and quality. When outdoors, be sure to practice capturing both static and moving subjects. Notice that capturing moving objects is different from taking static photos of static objects.
Move the camera indoors and practice taking photos in your home. You will realize that you have a lot more control over the light elements in an indoor environment.
