Arik Airlines Plc has announced its planning to build the country's third largest independent power plant at Igumon community, near Benin, the state capital.
This project will cost about $800 million (about N120 billion).
Moreover, Arik Air is also planning to establish an Aviation Academy with an estimated cost of $150 million (about N22.5 billion) in the state to train new pilots and refresher courses for airline support staff members.
The projects designed by the airline are aimed at to boost the industrialisation of the state, as well as to attain various objectives of progress and prosperity.
Sir Joseph Arumeni-Johnson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Arik Air, disclosed all their social responsibility policy during a courtesy visit by his management team to Governor Adams Oshiomhole at the Government House.
The licence for both the projects had already been acquired from the Federal Government, they added that the IPP project, after completion, will generate around 1,000 mega watt electricity and will be constructed in two stages of 500 mgwt each to speedup the development strengthen economy of the state.
There is a unique importance of the state in the country, which has good potential in raw material including HR and other resources.
Authorities has requested approval of the Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) of the parcel of land acquired for the IPP project, assuring the company's willingness to shoulder Governor Adams Oshiomhole's administration to increase chances of employment.
On the other hand the governor has also appreciated Arik Airlines's initiatives besides playing due role to foster the development of the area and strengthening economy.
Keeping in view of the Arik Air's initiatives for the development and strengthening economy of the area, other Air lines also needs to carry out such assignments, which may better their image not only in the eyes of travelers but also ordinary people of the respective area.
