subject: Volkswagen Used Cars- The Jetta [print this page]

Jetta used cars have always been a popular car to buy used, this particular vehicle from the Volkswagen Motor Company has been popular ever since it rolled on to the dealerships floors. There are two versions of the Volkswagen Jetta, the Volkswagen City Golf and the Volkswagen City Jetta. Both vehicles are great for city driving, and its great at the fuel pump as well.

Volkswagen Jetta used cars:

Both these vehicles are in the compact or sub compact segment of the auto industry. These Volkswagens models are well known throughout the automobile industry to have more room and a better interior design to its vehicles. When I compared them to other vehicles from automotive companies who compete with the Jetta, I found this to be true.

Volkswagen used cars like the Jetta have a weak engine to say the least. Both Volkswagens in 2007 used a 2.0-litre, four cylinder engine that had 115 horsepower, with 122 pounds per feet of torque. It also comes with two choices of transmission, a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual shifter to get around in. Later models introduced a six-speed with manual paddle shifters and also added 16 inch rims to both models.

I did find fuel statistics for the Volkswagen Jettas. For the manual transmission you got 9.8-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 7.1-litre, per 100km for highway driving. The automatic transmission had a fuel rating of 9.6-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 7.2-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. These models save you some cash when it comes to filling them up at the gas station.

Lets look at the pros and cons of the Volkswagen Jetta as a used car.

1-There are issues with the engine ignition coils.

2-There are issues with the engine lights turning on because of a faulty emission control platform.

3-Also there are issues with power windows not working at all.

4-There are no documented crash tests done to this vehicle.

5-I could not find any website forums that had Jetta owners talking about the reliability of the model.

I have heard however from automotive leading websites that this vehicle is not reliable. They mention if you going to buy a Volkswagen Jetta as used car, to make sure that its still under warranty and go over the carfax history of the vehicle.
