subject: Different Parts Of An Air-conditioning System [print this page]

Temperature is a major factor in the comfort levels of many people. In public places such as malls, office buildings, and other establishments, temperature is usually regulated, in order to make people as comfortable as possible. One common machine used to regulate temperature in public places and even in private households is the air-conditioning system.

Air-conditioning systems, also known as A/C systems, are devices used to modify air temperature inside a particular room or building. In Edmonton, Canada, people widely use A/C systems to achieve the desired temperature for homes and buildings. The use of an A/C system usually rises as the weather becomes hotter, as many people are more comfortable in lower temperatures. Many people, however, wonder how this mechanism can cool air in a room.

Most people think that A/C systems actually generate the cool air that it emits into a room or building. This notion is drastically false. What an A/C unit does is take away heat from the air in a certain area; as the unit absorbs heat, the temperature of the air drops. The rooms occupants thus feel a cooling effect. Heat absorbed by the unit is combined with a gas that runs through a series of coils within the unit. Heat dissipates from the gas as it passes through these coils.

One of the most significant parts of Edmonton air conditioning systems is the compressor. This part of the machine is responsible for the extraction of refrigerant, a compound used to turn gas into liquid in a very short period of time. Freon is a commonly used with small amounts of lubricant to ease the compressors task.

As the hot gas passes through the coils of an air conditioning Edmonton system, its temperature gradually decreases. By the time the gas reaches the other end of the coil, the air would be in the form of a cooled liquid. This liquid is then forced to enter a small hole called an expansion valve, where it is evaporated.

The fans inside an Edmonton air conditioning system are used for a wide variety of purposes, one of which is proper air circulation. These fans are also used to ease air absorption and the evaporation of the contained air.
