subject: How To Get A Free Facelift Without Surgery [print this page]

Facelifts are cosmetic surgery procedures undergone for the purpose of lifting and tightening the skin of the face for a more youthful appearance. While an experienced surgeon can provide you with the look you want, the surgery also comes with a high price tag, health risks, and recovery time.

If you can't afford a surgical facelift, don't like the idea of having to undergo surgery, or are in a high risk group for surgery (if you are a smoker, or have diabetes or heart disease, for example), consider alternatives, such as exercise. There are several facial exercises you can perform in the comfort of your own home, while at your desk at work, and even while driving your car. You can do these on a daily basis to achieve results similar to cosmetic surgery.

Facial Exercises

It is best to exercise after you've done your daily cleansing routine. Take a few deep breaths before beginning, and breathe deeply and regularly throughout. Some skincare experts recommend that you perform your exercise in 3 month intervals, taking a month-long break in-between. Below are a few suggestive techniques for firming and strengthening your facial and throat muscles.

1. For a full-face workout, open your eyes and mouth as wide as possible, stretching the entire face. Raise your eyebrows and hold for ten seconds, then repeat or alternate with other exercises.

2. Pucker your lips and suck in your cheeks; hold for ten seconds, relax, then repeat.

3. Providing you do not experience neck pain, you can perform some resistance exercises for your face and throat. One method is to look down and place one palm on the back of your head. Apply resistance as you lift your head back up into a normal position. Take a short break and repeat this exercise a few times daily.

You can check with your doctor or beauty treatment technician regarding the proper way to perform many of these workouts and for additional tips & suggestions. Never perform any type of workout if you are recovering from surgery, are injured, or are experiencing pain.

Benefits

Doing these exercises helps to strengthen the muscles of your face, making your skin appear tighter and younger looking. To really keep your skin in great shape, make sure that you also use a daily moisturizer and protect your skin from sun damage.

There are many facial moisturizers on the market that provide sun protection and have anti-aging properties. Keeping your skin moisturized preserves its elasticity and prevents sagging and drooping.

The time put into arranging, undergoing, and recovering from cosmetic surgery puts off many patients. Add to this the high cost of many procedures and the fact that some people simply aren't good candidates, and you can see why facial exercises are a great alternative.
