About Rick Ross:
William Leonard Roberts II, better known by his stage name Rick Ross, is an American rapper from Miami. He derived his stage name from the drug trafficker "Freeway" Ricky Ross, to whom he has no connection.
Rick Ross rose from ruling Miami's underground rap scene, to become 2006's buzz-worthiest hip-hop artist with Port Of Miami, his #1 Pop/#1 R&B/#1 Rap major label debut album. Its unstoppable single "Hustlin'" became the first mastertone ever certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of 1 million copies before the associated album had even been released.
Legal Problems:
Miami Beach cop arrested Ross in January 2008 on gun and marijuana charges.
In August 2008, DJ Vlad filed a lawsuit against Ross for assault. Vlad claimed Ross organized an ambush on him at the 2008 Ozone Awards in Houston, Texas for asking questions about his past as a correctional officer.
The reformed drug kingpin, Freeway Ricky Ross sued Rick Ross for using his name.He filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Ross in a California Federal Court. Jay-Z has been called to testify in the lawsuit, as he was CEO of Def Jam when Ross was signed. The reformed drug kingpin is looking for 10 million dollars in the lawsuit.
