Coral Beads - What Makes Them So Positively Timeless?

We all know fashion trends come and they go, but what is it about coral beads that make them positively timeless? Is it their vibrant colours, their deep sea mystique or just their obvious beauty?

They've been around since the 13th century and we are buying more of them today than ever before, much of this is down to thereaccessibilityand price due to mass production of very convincing replicas in the far east but this isn't the reason!

I am no fashionista but this is my take on it. Coral beads scream style, sophistication, quality, and portray a "Stepford Wifes/Martha Stewart" image, who wouldn't love them. In addition to this more and more younger women are wearing the beads, probably helped by round 2 of vintage style. The coral and gold beads also speak wealth and are a display of this.

Coral beads are normallycompaniedon a necklace or bracelet with gold or silver spacers, usually on a 1:1 ratio. They come in various colours such as red, orange, and most commonly turquoise, their sizes vary too from 3mm to in excess of 14mm, the most common sizes being 8mm and 10mm. Quite often the spacer beads between them will be a grade smaller.

Whilst there are many companies selling beads in the far east, you cannot rely on the quality of these, however there are also some reputable uk companies such as www.romanycouture.uk that supply many different types and styles of coral beads and coral and gold beads.
