subject: Building Your Confidence With Hot Tubs [print this page]

Some people just have the natural born confidence to go to the pool in their swimming costume, for the rest of us it is not always so easy! In fact a surprising amount of people, especially women, feel un-confident and worry about their looks when they go swimming or use a spa.

This is all part of a greater series of self confidence issues where a lot of us have a really bad image of ourselves. While it a well known fact, so much so that pretty much everybody now realises that we don't see ourselves how others do, we all refuse to believe it to be true for ourselves!

Part of this self confidence issue is being uncomfortable in what we are wearing, or not, as is often the case with being nude or wearing a swimming costume. Because of our bad body image, we tell ourselves that we look bad when parts of us are exposed, and a swimming costume is generally as exposed as most of us get in public! Yet most of this worry and 'uncomfortableness' is simply down to not being used to it, or our bodies.

As such the more often you wear a swimming costume, the easier it will be and the more confident you will feel when you are doing so. Now the only problem here is that if you feel uncomfortable wearing it in the first place, you won't want to put it on, so you will not get used to it!

One way you can greatly increase your confidence is to use your own hot tub. This way you can slowly get used to your body and your appearance over time, in the comfort of your own home. You can also gradually use the hot tub with other people, such as your partner and family who you will naturally be more confident around than people you don't know.

This process of getting used to your appearance over time works because you are always in control. Whilst for some people being thrown in to a situation they are uncomfortable in is the best cure, most of us just do not work like that! As such, take things slowly and you will soon feel comfortable of your body.

The benefits of a hot tub do not stop there however. Whilst most people see them as just a means to relax, which they are, they have many other practical uses. Hot tubs can be used to relieve aches and pains, such as muscle tension and bad backs, which is great after a stress full day.

Surprisingly you can also use your hot tub to lose weight, especially larger models where you can move more freely in them. Some models of hot tubs are specifically designed to help you lose weight, whereby you either walk, run or swim in them. This is normally done with a 'current' of water against you, which acts as resistance. This enables you to swim without ever actually moving, like a swimming treadmill!
