Originally called Ajaimeur or the invincible hill, the secular town Ajmer is located in the south west of Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan. It was founded by Ajai Pal Chauhan in the 7th century. It is among the most revered holy places for both Hindus and Muslims due to the mausoleum (popularly known as the Dargah Sharif) of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. It is a beautiful city which is surrounded by the spectacular mountains of Aravalli range. This place is also famous for its handicraft items and silver jewellery. Dargah Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti:

Known as the 'Dargah Sharif', Dargah Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti is situated at the foot of the Taragarh hill. It is the last resting place of the saint Khwaja Mu'inudd?n Chishti. This marble dome mausoleum is among the most important shrines of Muslims and receives numerous visitors of different religions from different parts of the globe. According to legend the Mughal emperor Akbar came here in the 16th century to offer prayers for an heir and the saint obliged him with a son. This mausoleum consists of several white marble buildings which are arranged around two courtyards. These courtyards are known for their ornate calligraphic inscriptions, delicate carvings and detailed trellis-work. The massive gate of this shrine was donated by the Nizam of Hyderabad. Many a disheartened soul come to this place to seek blessings of the saint. On Thursday and Friday nights incomers are overwhelmed by qawwalis at the dargah. In the month of May the Urs or annual pilgrimage of the devout is celebrated here with great pomp and enthusiasm which attracts millions of devotees from various parts of the globe. Pushkar:

According to Hindu mythology the Creator of Universe Lord Brahma created this town which is located 23 km from Ajmer. This place is famous for the Pushkar Lake, the 14 century Bramha Temple and the Pushkar Camel Fair which is held annually. The Pushkar Fair is one of the most colourful cattle fairs in the country that attracts tourists from various parts of the globe. This is the largest fair of Rajasthan which is held in the month of November.

Mayo College: It is one of the finest schools in India which was founded by the British Viceroy Lord Mayo. It was founded in 1875 as a school for Indian princes and its first pupil was the Maharaja of Alwar. This college is known for its quality education and architectural supremacy. 'Dargah Sharif' of Ajmer is the most visited destination that attracts tourists throughout the year. Some of the other popular destinations of this place include Nasiyan (Red) Temple, Taragarh Fort, Adhai-Din Ka-Jhonpra, Ana Sagar and many more.
