subject: Don't Give Cyber Bullying A Head Start [print this page]

Children often hope to grow fast and have all freedom that their parents enjoy. However naturally that takes time and there is a lot to learn till then. There are many times when these kids come under direct influence of someone or other and feel their life changing. Sometimes, these changes are for worse and come from dreaded sources: Cyber bullies.

Cyber bullies are an anonymous lot that may reside in your neighborhood or in other continent. They work on the assumption that teenagers everywhere can be formed and reformed. They tend to follow certain directions if they find it working. Thus, you may suddenly embark on a notion that attending schools is useless; being friendly with neighbors more so. Your studying schedule is corrupt and your parental influence is not of the best variety. The bully sows seeds of mistrust and suspicion in you against every person you come in daily contact with.

Be discreet on social sites

Certain villainous bullies will show you good face of a criminal's life and how learning to shoot will help you. You will become violent and irritable. You will keep yourself locked in your room for long and continue chatting with this bully. Initially, he may have come across you on sites like Facebook or MySpace or on chat rooms. Then, he begins to mail you ugly contents and wrong ways of life, each cloaked in a positive manner. You may be suggested that it is a right to indulge in viewing porn; something your parents are enjoying right now.

You shouldn't give these Cyber bullies this head start. Revealing too much of your personal info on social sites is not wise. You should not entertain strangers too much and decline if they start getting intrusive in their first messages, chats or mails. Extract as much of their information and try to find out its truth.

Other precautionary measures

You should not post your family photos and your parent's details and financial status. Make your profile interesting but not replete with your hobbies and tastes. Cyber bullying takes meat from these tidbits and makes you a victim. If provided, bullies will start harassing you on your cell phone and you will feel helpless. You shouldn't allow wrong contents in any shape to be sent to you.

You can also approach law enforcement concerning Cyber bullying. There are strict laws against this online crime and Intelligence sources track these operators rather fast. In any case, you will have done your job. Create awareness around you against Cyber bullying. Keep your parents into custody and ask them for help. Share your online ventures with them daily.
