Volkswagens new Sharan, the model up from the Volkswagen Golf Plus has recently undergone Euro NCAPs crash test and scored very highly. The new Sharan scored an outstanding 96%, which is one of the highest ever scores in the new and very strict Euro NCAP tests.

The Sharan scored highly for adult protection in frontal, side and rear impacts as well as child and pedestrian safety. Euro NCAPs test results mean that VWs most advanced people carrier is one of the safest cars in its class.

Injury prevention has been maximised by passive safety in the new VW Sharan, the new people carrier comes with nine airbags, curtain airbags for all three rows of seating, side airbags for the first two seating rows, driver and passenger airbag as well as a knee airbag for the driver.

Volkswagens new Sharan comes with a comprehensive range of safety equipment as standard with optimised body-shell rigidity and highly effective airbag and driver assistance systems including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assist) and ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme).

The Volkswagen group which includes Audi, SEAT and Skoda has been making great strides in the safety aspect of their cars. The new Audi A1 has recently been awarded 4 Euro NCAP stars, making it one of the safest super minis in the market. Based on the same platform as the Sharan, the new SEAT Alhambra has also been awarded 5 Euro NCAP stars.

VW is not the only car manufacturer committing more time and resource to safety, makes like Ford, Vauxhall and Saab are also producing cars which are meeting the highest crash test criteria for top marks.
